Over 200 participants in the first Valchiavenna snow race on the Carducci route. The Italian orienteering champion Pozzebon is also in the race.

Sunday, March 17, over 200 trail running athletes, who ran for 9 km, with a positive vertical drop of 300 m, touching points of the historic route named after the poet Giosuè Carducci, who spent the holidays in Madesimo for 15 years, acquiring in 1901 the honorary citizenship. With its 1,550 meters above sea level, in the well-known Valle Spluga, Madesimo is in fact among the tourist excellences of the Alps, among the mountains that mark the border between Italy and Switzerland.

Madesimo Winter Trail - Women Podium
The new event dedicated to trail runners, strongly desired by the Tourism Consortium of Madesimo and organized by ASD Italian Sport Lab and Andromeda Sport SSD, is born to offer an alternative formula thanks to which to fully live the mountain. With its 1,550 meters asl, in Val San Giacomo more known as Valle Spluga, Madesimo is in fact among the tourist excellence of the Alpine arc, a "pearl" set among the mountains that mark the border between Italy and Switzerland.
The 9 km route of the Madesimo Winter Trail, with a positive vertical drop of about 300 m, will touch historical points of the Carducciano itinerary and will allow you to appreciate the enchanting views of the valley, which inspired some of his masterpieces, without excessive difficulty. The route, starting and arriving from the Arlecchino area, will wind up on the Andossi plateau, giving unforgettable glimpses such as the tops of the Tambò, Ferrè, Piani and Quadro lace, until you reach the heart of the small Lombard town.
In its final stretch the trail will lead all participants to discover the Monument to the Poet, inaugurated in memory of Carducci five months after his death, and the Ponte Groppera, where the writer Annie Vivanti met for the last time in Madesimo the beloved partner. From the Hotel Cascata, where the poet used to eat his meals, he will run admiring Villa Adele, where he stayed in the summer seasons, and he will continue on the street named after him until the Congress Center.
